DGCA Advisory Group

The DGCA Advisory Group will meet on a monthly basis. The following are initiatives that have been set in motion based upon feedback from the first meeting held on Oct. 3, 2012.

DGCA Tuition Remission Query:
We’ve reached out to OIT to request tuition remission data for all fund sources, not just sponsored programs, so that the DGCA Query can be expanded and used for all fund sources.

We’ve already started working on the creation of new summary and cumulative tuition remission information based upon fund source and Student ID and Semester. At our next meeting, we hope to show you a prototype of the new summarized information for your review and comments.

IPAS Process:
Our IT staff will be working on the specs to deploy a web-based portal to submit and view the status of all IPAS’ actions to reduce paperwork.

Additionally, we will begin to develop a pilot to automatically extend the end dates 90 days after the end date for non-competing continuation NIH awards, without having units submit an IPAS’ with the goal of streamlining the process and minimizing the amount of payroll going into suspense.

The New DGCA PI Listserv will be deployed this week in the hopes of improving communications with faculty on post-award matters.

Commence emailing DGCA NOA directly to PIs, in addition to the Departmental Support Staff.

Better coordination of communications to University stakeholders from VPR, Pre and Post Award Offices.

Lastly, a special thanks to John Drudy of CABM who enlightened the group with an overview of comparable UMDNJ practices as we begin to recommend and incorporate “best practices” for the new Rutgers .
