Active Shooter Training

Thursday, October 24, 2019, 02:00pm - 04:00pm

Location : Livingston Student Center Room 201AB

In collaboration with University Public Safety, we have held several Active Shooter training sessions in light of threats and acts of violence at colleges and universities. Per the University's guidelines, "An active shooter situation is defined as any incident in which a person or persons armed with a deadly weapon is actively and presently employing the weapons against innocent victims." The training session provides guidelines for employees that could help reduce personal risk in the event of an Active Shooter Situation.

We encourage all "new" SAS employees to attend the upcoming training session as well as SAS employees who may have been unable to attend one of the sessions held previously. The training will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Livingston Student Center Room 201 AB. Department chairs are encouraged to attend the training sessions, as well as their faculty and staff. Please note, completion of this training is mandatory for all employees in the SAS Dean's Office, therefore if you have NOT attended an Active Shooter training session, please make every effort to attend the session on Thursday, October 24, 2019. If you attended one of our previous sessions, you are not required to attend this session.

Chairs, faculty, and staff should RSVP by October 22, 2019 at https://secure.sas.rutgers.edu/apps/invite/event/605/SAS_Active_Shooter_Training.

If you are not able to attend this session, but would like to be added to our distribution list for future training dates, please notify Kate Hellings at

If you have any questions or need any additional information, please contact Kate Hellings or visit the University's Emergency Action Plans and Annexes at http://eap.oit-nbcs.rutgers.edu/eap.html.
